About Juniper Heights (Juniper Ridge)

This area of Kamloops overlooks the city of Kamloops from the southern slopes of the city and is east of the city centre.

Juniper heights which is also known as Juniper Ridge is a popular neighborhood in Kamloops for families. This neighborhood currently has one main entry point of Highland Road which intersects with the Trans Canada Highway #1 and Valleyview Drive. There are plans to have additional access and emergency access routes to Juniper which should be available to the public in the coming year or so (as of 2022).

Juniper Heights features mostly single family homes. This area is split into 3 regions, the centre of Juniper Ridge is an older, more mature neighborhood area. A lot of the homes were built between the late 1970’s to the 1990’s. Juniper Benchlands is the executive lot region of Juniper Heights where you will find a number of large estates and large homes. The Benchlands homes all are on larger lots than the majority of lots within Juniper. These homes also often feature expansive views of Kamloops, the Thompson River Valley and even Kamloops Lake. Juniper West is located on the west end of the neighborhood of Juniper Ridge. This is where you will find the most new construction homes and newer townhouses. The lots in Juniper west are a lot smaller than those that you will find throughout most of Juniper.

Due to Juniper being up on a hillside a lot of properties have beautiful views of the southern hillside and river valley.

Juniper is home to the popular Kamloops Bike Ranch which is a downhill mountain bike park. It runs from the bottom of Highland road south of Valleyview Drive to the traffic circle at the top of Highland Road. There is a dog park, grass field, tennis court and a hockey rink at Juniper Park. Juniper also features a couple other parks. There is a new park in the Juniper West area with a playground and small walking/biking loop. Juniper Ridge Elementary School has a playground and playing fields as well. There are numerous hiking trails beyond Juniper in each direction.

Juniper Ridge does have It’s own elementary school however not all children in the area attend Juniper Ridge Elementary. The children in Juniper West attend elementary school at Ralph Bell Elementary School in Valleyview. All secondary students attend Valleyview secondary school. There is regular BC Transit Bus Service to the Juniper area and there is a small convenience store at the top of Highland Road.
